Complex divorces fall within two categories:
- Significant asset cases involving assets of over a million dollars or assets that are complicated to divide, such as businesses and stock options.
- High conflict cases involves those cases where the Husband and Wife cannot agree on the terms of their divorce, including custody and division of assets.
In a complex case involving significant assets, the parties can still use a Mediator to facilitate settlement. The litigation costs need not be extensive. Our office is experienced in mediating handling high asset cases and enjoys an excellent track record of successfully resolving these cases to both parties’ satisfaction, while keeping legal fees to a minimum.
In high conflict cases, the parties will usually be in court numerous times during the divorce. Often times, a judge will order a psychological evaluation to help resolve custody and visitation issues or will order a special master to help resolve financial disputes.
